Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Need help? Take a look at some of our most Frequently Asked Questions.

Can I have electricity in my Log Cabin?

We can recommend to you a certified Electrician that can offer you a supply and fitting service or you can contact an Electrician of your choice, who we will work alongside.

Does my cabin need treating?

Yes! A good quality treatment, no more than 3 - 4 weeks after construction of your cabin is recommended.

We can recommend a third party contractor who can treat your cabin to the standards required. Please see our treatment section on our website.

What type of base is suitable for my log cabin?

With all installations with Kent Cabin Craft Centre, we install on tanalised, power blastered timber.  Tanalised posts will be insterted into postcrete and membrane with a damp course.

If you wanted a concrete base, you would need to contact a local building company.

If you have a concrete base you would need to ensure this is level.  If it is deemed to be unlevel, we can construct a levelling frame.

How is the delivery of my log cabin arranged?

Our haulage company will contact you to arrange a date of your delivery, once your cabin is in the UK.  The delivery will be made by a HIAB onto your premises.

When is installation arranged?

Once your cabin is at haulage in the UK, they will contact you to arrange delivery and also contact Kent Cabin Craft Centre with the date of your delivery.  We will then call you with an installation date.

Can my log cabin be insulated?

If you are wanting to use your cabin all year round, we recommend insulation is fitted to the roof and floor of your log cabin.

Is planning permission required for my Log Cabin?

The majority of Log Cabins do not require planning permission.

If your Log Cabin covers half of your garden area, we recommend you contact your local planning authority.

Nearly all of our Log Cabins have a ridge height of 2.5m, These do not require planning permission.  If you was to choose a higher ridge height, your Log Cabin would need to be positioned 2m away from the boundaries.

You can always contact your local planning authority for guidance.

How long will my cabin take from the order to construction?

The waiting times can vary throughout the year, but on average the process takes between 6 - 10 weeks.

Can I pay my cabin on instalments?

We require a 50% deposit at the time of ordering and the balance payable when your cabin reaches haulage in the UK, prior to delivery to your premises.

All payments can be made by Bank Transfer of Credit/Debit Cards Excluding Amex or diners club.

Do you offer a free, no obligation, site survey?

We encourage our customers to have a site survey to help you regarding suitability of the area in which you would like your cabin situated.

The rules of planning relating to your cabin build.

The size and style of your cabin.
